1) The competition will take place from July 12 to 15, 2018 in Mottola (Ta) and it is open to guitarists of all nationalities if born after January 1, 1983.

2) The competition will follow three steps:

a) Preliminary round: (Thursday) July 12, 2018 - 9.00 a.m.;
b) Semifinal round: (Friday) July 13, 2018;
c) Final round, public concert and awards ceremony: (Sunday) July 15, 2018.

3) Required pieces:

Preliminary round:
a) Two Studies chosen between “Douze Estudes” by Heitor Villa Lobos (taken from the editions of Max Eschig 6679 or Max Eschig/Durand DF15851)
b) 5 free choice minutes.

Semifinal round:
a) one composition of the following list:
Niccolò Paganini - Grande Sonata in La maggiore;
Mauro Giuliani - Gran Sonata Eroica; Sonata in Do magg. Op. 15; Rossiniane;
Fernando Sor - Sonata op. 22; Sonata op. 25;
Joaquin Turina - Sonata;
Antonio José - Sonata;
Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco - Sonata;
H. Villa Lobos - Suite Populaire Brasilienne;
Benjamin Britten - Nocturnal Op.70;
Alberto Ginastera - Sonata op. 47;
Angelo Gilardino - Sonata Mediterranea; Sonata del Guadalquivir; Sonata n. 2;
Leo Brouwer - Sonata;
Dusan Bogdanovic - Jazz Sonata;
Roland Dyens - Libra Sonatine;

Final round – Public Concert:
20 free choice minutes (you cannot repeat pieces performed in the previous stages of the competition).

4) The registration form must be sent to info@mottolafestival.com or via traditional mail to: “Ass. M.&C. Accademia della Chitarra – via V. Sansonetti, 64 – 74017 – Mottola (Ta) - Italy”. The registration form must be sent within June 20, 2018 together with n.1 curriculum vitae; n.1 photo; n.1 scanning copy of the fee choice pieces to perform (.pdf); n.1 photocopy of the payment of the entry fee of Euro 80,00 made by:

- bank transfer: account c/c n. 20850 - IBAN code number is IT 67 M 05385 78980 000000020850 at Banca Popolare di Puglia e Basilicata – Agenzia di Mottola. Bank changes must be paid by the sender;
- international postal order.
Both of them must be addressed to Ass. M. & C. “Accademia della Chitarra” - Via V. Sansonetti n. 64 – 74017 - Mottola (TA) - Italy.

5) The entry fee won’t be paid back under any circumstances and implies the unconditional acceptance of the present regulations. Pay attention, please: no foreign bank cheque can be sent to the Accademy. If this will happen, they’ll be sent to the sender.

6) Please write your registration to the computer (see the file on-line). Scheme of the registration: surname and first name, date of birth, address, nationality, telephone and fax number, e-mail, date, signature.

7) The registration form must be presented within June 20, 2018.

8) The winner of the First Prize will have to send at the head office of the Competition the following material, not later than 4 months after winning (or risk losing the prize):
a) n.2 copies of the master (tracks WAV, 16bit, 44100Hz, Stereo);
b) the tracklist of the CD with its exact minutes;
c) some pictures for the cover (free choice);
The organizing staff of the Competition will evaluate the technical quality of the recordings in collaboration with the sound technicians of the dotGuitar WebLabel. Recordings of low quality or unsuitable to be published will be rejected.

9) The present regulations has his own legal value in his Italian version.

10) For any controversy, Taranto court is the competent court.

11) As for the stay, the '"Academy of Guitar" recommends to those who don't have a car to arrive by train to the station of Gioia del Colle (BARI). CECERE Hotel will provide a shuttle bus service from the station of Gioia del Colle to the hotel, there will be a fee for this service.

EuroStrings has developed a scholarship programme for students from lower income backgrounds to enable them participation in international guitar competitions and masterclasses that mostly require a payment fee. EuroStrings is acknowledging financial situation of many young guitar players and with this programme supporting them in their further international education.

Open Call for EuroStrings Scholarships
EuroStrings provides international opportunities for young classical guitar players and contributes to their professional development through various educational and training programs.

To acknowledge the financial situation of many young guitar players and to support their international education, EuroStrings has developed a scholarship programme for students from lower income backgrounds. This scholarship will enable young guitarists to participate in international guitar competitions and masterclasses of EuroStrings Festivals during 2018.

Who can apply?
Young guitarists, aged between 18 and 25, with lower financial capability. They need to be students at a music school and have undergone professional education for at least 2 years.
Application process
Applicants interested to attend any of the following festivals, may submit the necessary documents to be considered for a full coverage of travel, accommodation, participation costs and per diem for one candidate per each festival.
Interested applicants should submit the following materials for review:

- a private or unlisted YouTube video containing free choice of repertoire at about 10 min duration
- a tax return - English translation required (personal and/or parent's)
- a short description of household status (number of people in household etc)
- 1 A4 written out formal request for applicant's financial assistance concerning travel, accommodation, festival costs and per diems, specifying the festival of interest. This request should contain candidate's contact info - name, last name, address, email address, phone number - and personal thoughts as to why he or she is in need of the EuroStrings scholarship
- letter of recommendation from a professional in the field (teacher, music producer, musical collaborator et al.)

All documentation needs to be submitted in English, only the submissions in English will be considered for the selection process.
